Analyses of material properties

Short description

The analyses include the quantitative and qualitative characterization of the material structure, the fractal analysis, and the attestation of various technological processes. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for metallographic preparation of samples (microrelephant, polish, US cleanser), and for light and electronic microscopy. The Olympus GX51F-5 metalographic invert microscope with integrated DP25 digital camera and its image analysis software provides complex qualitative and quantitative micro-structure analysis. Scanning electron microscope VEGA TESCAN TS5136LS is equipped with SE, BSE and EDS detectors that allow analysis of sample topography, elemental contrast, and micro-analysis of the chemical composition.

Long description

The Laboratory for Material Science is one of the 6 laboratories within the Department of Materials of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture.
In addition to the teaching activities, the laboratory performs complex analyses of microstructures and macrostructures of metal and non-metallic materials for the purpose of scientific research projects and cooperation with the economy. The Olympus GX51F-5 metalographic invert microscope with integrated DP25 digital camera and its image analysis software provides complex qualitative and quantitative microstructure analysis. Scanning electron microscope VEGA TESCAN TS5136LS is equipped with SE, BSE and EDS detectors that allow analysis of sample topography, elemental contrast, and microanalysis of the chemical composition
